Avera Electric Vehicles is based in Andhra Pradesh. The manufacturing setup is in Vijayawada. It manufactures electric two-wheelers. Avera Retrosa electric scooter was launched in 2019. The design of Avera Retrosa is based on a retro theme. Presently Retrosa is being sold only in Andhra Pradesh. The company plans to expand its footprint in Southern India. It plans to enter Northern India in the year 2021. This electric scooter is eligible for FAME II subsidy provided by the Government of India once its components are 50% localized.
The retro design takes inspiration from the old Vespa scooter. It has a round headlight surrounded by chrome. Chrome has been used in headlamp masks, rearview mirrors, and stalks. You will find chrome garnish on the front apron and also on the body.

Avera Retrosa Review by EV Funda Team
- Restora has a powerful 3 kW electric motor. The motor is made by Bosch of Germany. This is a big plus point.
- Due to its powerful motor Avera Retrosa can climb a slope of 30 degrees. This again is a big plus point in hill driving conditions.
- The battery capacity is 2.6 kWh. This is reasonably good capacity. The battery is Lithium Iron Phosphate type. Its life is higher. The battery pack’s life is 2500 charging cycles, which is quite good.
- There are two driving modes – Economy and Sports Plus. In addition, there is a Parking Mode (for parking the scooter) and Reverse Mode for moving the scooter in narrow spaces for parking. When the scooter is in Parking Mode it will not move forward. First, you have to press the brake levers. Then only the scooter will move forward. It is a safety feature.
- In Economy Mode, Retrosa gives a mileage of at least 120 Km. This is a good range for the urban commute. In Economy Mode, the speed is limited to 40 Km per hour. In Sports Mode, the scooter can go at 90 Km per hour.
- The top speed of the scooter is 90 Km per hour. At this speed, it may be the fasted electric scooter in India.
- The digital instrument panel has excellent visibility. It shows Speed, Battery Charge State, Mode of Running, Trip Meter, Odometer, Left & Right Indicator, High Beam, etc.
- Retrosa has a USB port for mobile charging
- The seat height is 750 MM. This is reasonably OK for both short and tall drivers.
- For better stability, Retrosa has 110/70 tyres. Most scooters do not have this wide tyre. This gives a better grip when brakes are applied.
- The scooter has a side stand sensor. So when the side stand is on the scooter will not move.
- Boot space of 16 liters is available under the seat for any personal item.
- The loading capacity of the scooter is 180 Kg which is quite good.
- The warranty on the battery is 5 years. Warranty on Motor and Controller is 3 years. So the warranty is quite OK.
