Yamaha E01 Electric Scooter
Yamaha is a Japanese company. It first showcased the Yamaha E01 concept in 2019 at Tokyo Motor Show. The E01 trademark has been registered. It is expected that Yamaha E01 will make its global debut in 2021 or in early 2022. We already have a Yamaha Motor manufacturing plant in Noida, UP.
This electric scooter’s performance will be equivalent to 125 CC motorcycle which runs on petrol. The urban commute version of Yamaha E01 will have power output comparable to a 125 cc engine scooter or motorcycle. But its ride experience will exceed that of a conventional scooter
Yamaha E01 Specification
- It combines Yamaha’s scooter and EV technologies.
- Yamaha E01 has a tubular steel frame.
- E01 will have an 11 KW BLDC electric motor. This is equivalent to 15 BHP. As per rule, two-wheelers can’t be more powerful than this, because they are driven by amateur drivers.
- The DC brushless motor is air-cooled
- It has a typical maxi-style design
- E01 is fast-charge compatible, with a Lithium-Ion battery. The battery is fixed and can’t be removed. Therefore charging has to be done in-situ. The battery swapping feature will also be missing.
- The panels at the rear section cover the E-scooters storage compartment.
- The main storage section accommodates the lithium-ion battery pack.
- The battery pack compartment has been positioned between the rider’s legs. So Yamaha E01 will not have a flat footboard to which we are used. BMW CE04 also has a similar battery storage compartment. It is expected that Yamaha E01 electric scooter will rival BMW CE04 electric scooter.
- The electric motor has been placed right behind the battery pack.
- The battery charging port is at the front, above the headlamp
- Both front and rear brakes of E01 are disc type
- The front fork is a conventional telescopic fork
- Headlamp, tail light, and indicators are LED types. The design shows Bi-LED headlamps with 2 part LED DRL. A slim body integrated strip of LED at the rear functions as a tail light.
- The Instrument Panel will be fully digital, with geofencing features
- It has a single frame seat with a stepped-up pillion rider seat.
- Tyres are tubeless types.
- Length of E01 is 1956 MM, Width is 810 MM and Height is 1190 MM
- Wight of the scooter will be around 80 Kg. So Yamaha E01 is likely to be a lightweight electric scooter.

Currently, the price of E01 has not been revealed by Yamaha. However, Yamaha E01 price is expected to be around Rs 3 Lac or even higher.

- Yamaha E01 Electric Scooter looks stylish.
- It has a powerful motor. The electric motor of 11 KW is usually not found in scooters and bikes manufactured in India.
- The frame of E01 is made of steel. This is a big plus point.
- However, the battery capacity, range of E01, and its top speed are not yet known clearly.
- The price of the Yamaha E01 will be a crucial factor. Let us wait for some more information from Yamaha Motor.
