Pure EV EPluto 7G review by EV Funda
- The battery capacity is 2.5 kWh. It is just OK, neither on the lower side nor on the higher side. The battery pack is portable. So it can be removed and taken inside your home or office, for charging.
- The battery cells can endure a high discharge rate and high temperature. However, the controller setting is such that it remains at a 1C discharge rate. This prolongs the battery life.
- The battery life is limited to 1000 charge cycles. This is a bit low. EV Funda would have preferred a battery life of 2000 charge cycles.
- A charging port has been provided. You can charge the battery without taking it out of the scooter. So you have flexibility.
- The battery pack is stored in the boot space under the seat. So no space is left for storing personal items.
- The nominal power of the electric motor is 1.5 kW. This is slightly on the lower side. The scooter should preferably have a motor of at least 2 kW nominal power.
- EPluto 7G has 3 driving modes. In Mode 1 the maximum speed is 40 Km per hour. In Mode 2 the maximum speed is 54 Km per hour. In Mode 3 the scooter can achieve a speed of 65 Km per hour. The BMS (Battery Management System) controls the battery temperature. It is essential to increase the battery life.
- A top speed of 60 to 65 Km per hour is OK for a city commute. The max speed depends on the accuracy of the controller setting by the manufacturer.
- The manufacturer claims a range of 90 to 100 Km. The actual range will vary depending upon factors like traffic condition, load on the scooter, road condition, wind speed, ambient temperature and driving style, etc. In our opinion, the range is more likely to be around 80 Km, with a pillion rider.
- The Instrument Panel has a bright LCD display. All readings are clearly visible. The instrument cluster shows Speed, Battery Charging State in bar form, Odometer, Left & Right Indicator, and the Mode in which you are driving.
- Future variants of the scooter will have an improved instrument panel.
- Pure EV EPluto 7G has a round headlamp like an old Vespa scooter. It looks good.
- The seat is just long enough for a pillion rider. A grab rail has been provided for the pillion rider.
- Pure EV EPluto 7G has plush body panels made of plastic fiber. The design has sweeping lines across the body, fitted with chrome finished mirrors.
- The weight of the scooter is 79 Kg. So it is easy to handle
- EPluto 7G does not have smart features, except an anti-theft lock. At this price, some smart features should have been provided by Pure EV.
Recommendations of EV Funda
- We would have preferred a battery of higher capacity and longer life.
- The electric motor is just sufficient.
- The manufacturer has tried the keep input cost low by not providing a higher battery capacity and more powerful motor.
- EPluto handles itself well and is peppy.
- Overall, Pure EV EPluto 7G is a good electric scooter.
- We give a “Buy” recommendation after you have taken a look at the electric scooters given below.
