Bajaj Chetak is an electric scooter. It is a new avatar of the iconic Bajaj Chetak scooter. Bajaj Chetak Electric is available in 2 variants. These variants are named:-

• Chetak Urbane
• Chetak Premium

Bajaj Chetak’s price starts at Rs 1, 15, 000. This is the ex-showroom price of the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter. Bajaj electric scooter has been introduced in Pune and Bengaluru only. It will be introduced soon in Chennai and Hyderabad also.

The manufacturer offers 3 years warranty of 50, 000 Km (whichever is earlier). The same warranty is offered on the electric scooter and also on the battery.

The auxiliary battery has a warranty of 18 months only. Tyres have a warranty of 12 months only. Replacement of auxiliary batteries and tyres under warranty will depend on the discretion of the manufacturer.

The replacement or repair of the part under warranty is at the sole discretion of Bajaj Auto Ltd. Replacement of lithium-ion battery under warranty also depends on the decision of the manufacturer. , shall Warranty on auxiliary battery and tyres shall be at the sole discretion of their respective manufacturers. 

Charging of Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter

The charging station is at the rear of the Chetak electric scooter. You need to buy a Chetak Wall Charger. It can be easily installed at your home or in your office. All you need is a 3 pin, 220 V electricity supply. A 5-ampere wall socket is required for charging the battery.

It has multiple safety features. No one can connect or disconnect the charging cable without your consent.

The steel body of Bajaj Electric Scooter

The body is made of steel. It gives the electric scooter a longer life and also superior quality. Bajaj Chetak Electric has a steel frame and steel body panels. The steel body has smooth well-formed lines.

This electric scooter has a tough steel frame. The body is made of precision pressed steel panels. The body panels are coated with three layers of paint. It increases the reliability and durability of electrical components.

The steel body is good for Indian riding conditions. Therefore it has much higher durability and strength than a scooter of fiber body.

Solid Gear Drive of Bajaj Electric Scooter

Bajaj Chetak electric scooter does not have a belt and chain, like other two-wheelers. The electric motor is coupled to the rear wheel with a solid gear drive. It is of compact design. This superior transmission design causes very low power loss. It gives you a very smooth and jerk-free ride.

Mileage of Bajaj Chetak electric scooter

The manufacturer claims that Bajaj Chetak’s range is 95 Kms when the battery is fully charged and is new. This range has been calculated under IDC as per AIS 040.

Our technical team’s experience is that under practical city running conditions this electric scooter will give a mileage of 60 to 70 Kms before the battery requires charging again. The range of Bajaj Chetak Electric depends on the following factors:-

A lithium Ion Battery is considered within specified life when it has up to 70% capacity of a brand new battery.

The battery of Bajaj Chetak electric scooter

Bajaj Chetak electric has a lithium-ion battery. The battery capacity is 3kWh. It is IP67 certified. The manufacturer claims that the battery will last for 70, 000 Kms before it requires to be replaced. It takes about 7 years for the electric scooter to complete 70, 000 Kms of running. However, the manufacturer gives a warranty of 50, 000 Km or 3 years, whichever is earlier. The same warranty is offered on the scooter also.

The battery gets fully charged (100% charged) in 5 hours. A quick charge takes 60 minutes. In Quick Charge the battery gets charged up to 25% only. A normal 5 Amp household socket is required to charge the battery. If you can charge your mobile, you can charge the battery of Bajaj Chetak electric scooter.

Electric Motor of Bajaj Chetak electric scooter

The Peak Power Rating of the electric motor is 4 KW. The continuous power rating is 3.8 KW. The Peak torque produced by the motor is 16 Nm.

There are two drive modes of the power train. These are Sport Mode and Eco Mode. In the Sport Mode, the claimed range is 85 Km. In the Eco Mode, the claimed range is 95 Km.

Bajaj Chetak Scooter price starts at Rs 1, 15, 000. Earlier it was priced at slightly less than Rs 1 Lakh. However, the company has since increased the price of its Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooters.

Bajaj electric scooter price was hiked in March 2021. Chetak Urbane variant price was increased by around Rs 28000. The price of Chetak Premium was increased by around Rs 25000.

Bajaj Chetak Scooter Launch

Bajaj Chetak Electric was launched in late 2019.  This electric scooter has seen unprecedented high demand. An online booking facility was available in Pune and Bengaluru. On 15 April 2021, the company stopped taking advance booking for Bajaj Chetak electric scooter. One likely reason for stopping advance booking is the lack of component supply from China. Another likely reason is the lockdown in Maharashtra which may have affected the production.

However, the company is trying to increase the production of Bajaj Chetak electric scooters. The plan is to make this electric scooter available in 24 more cities in India.
