Bounce, a start-up from Bangalore, has launched its first electric scooter in India. Bounce Infinity E1 has a ‘Battery as a Service’ option and is the first of its kind in the Indian market.
Under this service, you can lease the battery and purchase the electric scooter without the battery. Customers purchasing the scooter without the battery will need to visit Bounce’s swapping station to replace the drained-out battery with a fully-charged one.
For its battery-swapping network, Bounce has collaborated with Readassist, Helloworld, and Kitchens. The startup intends to grow its network to 900 outlets in ten cities. In partnership with Park+, it also hopes to establish around 3,500 battery-switching stations.
A battery replacement will cost around Rs 35 per switch at these battery-switching stations. Customers will also be required to pay a monthly subscription fee ranging from Rs 850 to Rs 1,250.
The Bounce Infinity E1 is driven by a BLDC electric motor that produces 83 Nm of torque. The scooter can accelerate from 0-40 km/h in 8 seconds and has a top speed of 65 km/h.
As per the company, the 2 kWh battery charges in approximately 4-5 hours and can cover 85 km in a single charge.
